I was able to imitate the artist style in the first picture by her use of various directions of crosshatching against a white void. The color yellow on a solid background surface also ties my image to that of the inspiring artist: France Belleville
The second picture I drew ties to my inspiration because of both the color of the pen I used and the color of my paper. The inspiring artist used simple lines with emphasis on the solid red parts of the image.
The third image I drew in a very sketchy, loose style with sierra and dark brown tones with hints of black. I left some spaces white as well as fading the color out towards the edges of the page just like the inspiring artist did.
While drawing my fourth image I focused on 'less is more'. The artist use lighter gray lines and only used color to emphasize the people within the space. I, like my inspiration, used hierarchy in line color and weight to emphasize closer objects.
The final drawing was a matter of lots and lots of neat cross-hatching to show many graytones with only a black pen. I later added grey watercolor for shading to emulate the gray that the inspiration image portrayed. The tree is something that strongly tied my image to my inspiration because of the way the full branches overlap and the cross-hatching gives it depth. I also tried to show the curve and shadow on one side of the tree trunk just as my inspiration did.
