imitation illustration frustration :: r e f l e c t

when i set out to find inspiration for my drawings it was harder than i though to find ones that would be good to imitate for interior and some exterior spaces. i follow tons of blogs yet never noticed that not a lot of their word focuses on interiors- or architecture period. one i found my inspiration i analyzed thier technique on stickynotes. i also had never realized what exactly it was that made their style theirs until i wrote it all out.

some artists i chose had a very loose, sketchy style with very little color. i liked their work but when i imitated it it just looked like a sloppy, shitty sketch. when looking back at these same artists pieces i noticed a lot of them used photoshop or something to add gray scale digitally. this gave their drawings a smooth transition of frays that was setting their loose style apart from my shitty imitation drawings. at first i could not achieve this smooth polished look of digitally added color to my drawings with only pens, and markers. after a motivating class today and after reviewing a really helpful handout i am excited about new techniques and grasping various styles more successfully.
